When we had the opportunity recently to stay at Universal's Hard Rock Hotel we jumped at the chance! Not only is Hard Rock one of the most beautifully themed hotels on Universal property, it also comes with FREE EXPRESS PASSES for both Universal Studios and Islands of Adventure meaning that you can cut your wait times for rides and attractions in half!
The hotel location is fantastic being just a short and picturesque walk from Universal Citywalk and both Universal theme parks. The close proximity to the parks means that you do not need to go near the Universal multi story car parking garage that nightmares are made of! Always a positive in my book! If you are feeling a little tired (lazy?), then you can always hop on the hotel water taxi and enjoy a peaceful boat ride to the parks entrance, saving your legs for all of that theme park walking!
From the moment you enter the lobby of Hard Rock Hotel you know that you are somewhere a little bit special. There are amazing pieces of pop and rock memorabilia everywhere and we had the best time taking in all of the scenery. Just look at the attention to detail in those light fittings! Even the hallways and corridors were themed with pictures of some of pop and rocks most famous stars!
The room was spacious and comfortable with themed mirrors, artwork and decorative pillows throughout. We can confirm that the beds are very comfortable and we slept like babies for the duration of our stay!
We did not have the chance to use the pool as we were so busy enjoying Universals two amazing theme parks, however, we did enjoy a Starbucks coffee at the poolside one morning prior to our busy day at Universal Studios. The pool is spacious and never seemed crowded. There is live music at the poolside on a daily basis and believe me, these musicians are good! When the band is not playing, pool music takes over and is even piped underwater so you don't miss a beat!
We spent one evening eating at The Kitchen restaurant as the rain came down quite heavily and we didn't want to get caught out at Citywalk! The food was excellent! We grabbed a late night snack of BBQ chicken flatbread and blue cheese potato chips with bacon and shared the plates between three of us. Everything was very tasty and there was more than enough to go around!
If you are celebrating a birthday, anniversary or another special occasion during your stay be sure to let the hotel know. It was my birthday when we were staying and we were treated to the most delicious cake served on a 'Happy Birthday' plate and complimentary drinks vouchers. Such a lovely touch!
It's such a pleasant and picturesque walk over to Universal Citywalk so we stopped on the way to take some pictures with Citywalk as the perfect backdrop.
We also spent some time at the Velvet Lounge bar in the hotel and enjoyed some delicious cocktails with excellent service from the bartender. While you sip your cocktail you can enjoy the video jukebox in the bar!
On our final morning we popped to Voodoo Doughnuts for a breakfast treat and brought the doughnuts back to our room to enjoy with coffee while we packed. We snapped some cute shots in the Hard Rock Hotel beds complete with a colourful doughnut for company!
We thoroughly enjoyed our Hard Rock Hotel stay and would highly recommend the hotel for couples, friends and families alike. We loved the proximity to the parks, the comfortable rooms and the relaxing pool vibe.
We will definitely be back!
