Now that the clocks have changed and nights are closing in we are feeling more and more like snuggling up with a duvet and watching TV! As the winter approaches its such a struggle to get out of bed on a morning! There are weekends when we like nothing better than to have a day where we lounge around in PJ's, with mugs of hot tea (and of course, chocolate) and catch up on long neglected TV shows. Here are a few of our viewing recommendations for your lazy days and why we love them:
Gilmore Girls:
What would a duvet day be without Lorelai and Rory and their Stars Hollow adventures? If you have never seen Gilmore Girls the entire 7 seasons are on Netflix now. Its funny, poignant and cleverly written with the fastest dialogue known to man! Having watched the entire series twice over we are so excited for the revival next month!
Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt:
We literally had only watched 5 minutes of this show before we knew that we were going to LOVE it! It is sooo funny, inappropriate and sarcastic and Ellie Kemper is fantastic in the title role as one of the 'mole women' rescued from a cult after 15 years, living in New York with a gay failed Broadway singer. Jane Krakowski is also a great addition to the cast as Kimmys wealthy employer Jacqueline. Its laugh out loud funny!
Gossip Girl:
If you totally missed the boat first time around of if, like us, you have up half way through, give Gossip Girl another try. If you are looking for something easy to watch, not too taxing on the brain cells and easy to dip in and out of then this glossy show about the lives and loves of rich, young Manhattan residents could be just what you are looking for!
Dexter:
It's a big statement to make but we would consider Dexter to be our favourite TV show EVER! As Dexter Morgan, a blood spatter expert and serial killer based in Miami, Michael C Hall is amazing. You would never think that you could root for a serial killer but as a killer with a difference Dexter has you on the edge of your seat. This is a must watch and our most recommended show to family and friends.
One Tree Hill/The OC:
Next on the list a couple of 'oldies but goodies'! Pick one or binge watch them both, we adore these two 'teen' dramas. One Tree Hill aired from 2003-2012 (yes, really) and focused on half brothers Nathan and Lucas and their respective families and friends. It goes through some crazy (and at times unbelievable) storylines but its easy watching and great fun. The OC started as the stronger series in 2003 but petered out in 2007 when many original characters had moved on. It's worth watching as season 1 is fantastic and you will want to find out what happens to these characters.
Pretty Little Liars:
We will admit that PLL has probably outstayed its welcome and its definitely best that it ends at season 7, but we still can't stop watching it! If you've been living under a rock the series is about on 4 teenage girls (now 20+) who may or may not have a lot of secrets!
Game of Thrones:
Currently filming season 7, each Game of Thrones season has 10 episodes making it a little easier to catch up with than some of our recommendations! A wonderfully shot fantasy drama based on the novels by George RR Martin, GOT is another must watch. Be prepared for some x-rated goings on as well as plenty of violence and brutality!
We hope that you have enjoyed our list. We could definitely go on as there are many other shows that we could include but these are our top pics! If you have some recommendations for us please leave them in the comments below. We'd love to hear them!
Love Elle and Mimi x
