Best Of 2016 - The Beauty Edit

2016 was another great year for beauty and we must admit that we have lusted after a lot of beautiful products in the last 12 months. Rather than bombard you with approximately 1000 things we have fallen in love with we put our heads together and came up with a much more manageable list, so in no particular order, here goes:

Makeup Revolution and Primark P.S...Pro Makeup Sponges & Brushes: Both Makeup Revolution and Primark's range of sponges and oval brushes were a revelation this year! The tiny sponges are used daily to blend in under eye concealer and the oval Artis-like brushes are amazing quality at a teeny tiny fraction of the cost of the originals. We tried a lot of Beauty Blender and Artis brush dupes in 2016 and nothing came close to these two ranges.
Makeup Revolution Ultra Pro Glow and Ultra HD Palettes: While we are on the subject of Makeup Revolution they really knocked it out of the park this year with these two palettes. You can probably tell by the pictures that they have been very well loved in 2016! Also, they are super affordable at just £10 per palette! Compare that to the higher end versions which are on sale for 4 x that amount! If you haven't yet tried these palettes we would advise you to give them a go before splashing out on the £40 version.

Milani Everyday Eyeshadow Palettes: We have dabbled in Milani for a while but 2016 was the year we jumped in wholeheartedly and fell head over heels in love with the Everyday Eyeshadow Palettes. It was Earthy Elements that originally sold it to us but after discovering this hidden gem of a palette we headed back to Walgreens and picked up another two!
L'Oréal Cushion Foundation: We resisted the high end cushion foundation products but when we were in Orlando in May we couldn't wait to get our hands on L'Oréal's version. We were certainly not disappointed! It made our skin look dewy and glowing during spring and summer and offers just the right amount of coverage. The only negative is that there is just not enough product and we go through it like crazy! Hence the lack of photos...We have none left!

Anastacia Modern Renaissance Palette: One of the standouts of 2016 has to be the very hard to get our hands on Modern Renaissance Palette! We eventually were lucky to snap one up at Net-a-Porter and we are so glad we did! It is used almost daily and has the perfect mix of warm neutrals, cool grey lilacs and bold rich berry shades. Great for the Autumn and Winter months.

Too Faced Sweet Peach Palette: If you have watched our travel vlogs you will have seen our quest for the Sweet Peach Palette! We literally got our hands on the last two to be delivered to Ulta Beauty back in May and it was worth it! With its peach scent and 18 beautifully pigmented shadows in a variety of peachy corals, browns, beiges and deep purple shades there is something for everyone.
Tarte Tartelette In Bloom Palette: The last eyeshadow palette in our top picks is the amazing Tartelette In Bloom Palette. Another standout favourite that gets used almost daily! The quality of the shadows is excellent and the palette is very versatile being able to deliver a variety of looks from a natural daytime look to a more intense smoky evening look.
L'Oréal False Lash Sculpt Mascara: Far and away our number one mascara launch of 2016 is this offering from L'Oréal. This fantastic mascara tight lines at the root, volumises at the core and fans-out at the tip! If you haven't tried it you don't know what you are missing! Amazing!

L'Oréal Infallible Pro Glow Foundation: Why oh why is this amazing foundation not available in the UK yet?! We have to go all the way to the USA to get it but lets be honest, we'd crawl over hot coals! It really is that good! Lightweight, medium coverage with SPF, perfection.
So there you have it....our standout favourites of 2016. L'Oréal have had a great year in the beauty stakes and eyeshadow palettes have featured heavily for us this year! We cant wait to see what 2017 brings in the Beauty World and we look forward to sharing our discoveries with you all!

Love Elle and Mimi x
