Topgolf Orlando Preview Day

I was lucky enough to be invited to a preview last weekend at the brand new Topgolf venue on Universal Boulevard, Orlando. The new Topgolf venue opens 20th October 2017 and I was very excited to be able to attend the preview!

I am the first to admit, I have never actually played a game of golf! The odd attempt at crazy golf is as close as I have gotten to golfing, therefore, I was very interested to see what Topgolf was all about and if it would appeal to a non-golfer like me.

Topgolf Orlando is a golf entertainment complex where you can enjoy eating, drinking and socialising with your friends and family while you challenge them to point scoring games of golf. Topgolf liken the game to darts or bowling as you hit a micro-chipped golf ball into one of eleven targets ranging from 20 to 240 yards away. The difference is that you play in a 'bay' rather than a lane and from your bay you hit the balls into a large 'outfield'. Each section of the target can detect your micro-chipped ball and sends a score to your screen based on accuracy and distance, just like magic! If you have ever enjoyed a game of ten pin bowling you will love this! I was delighted to find that I did not have to be a golfer to enjoy playing and I was actually surprisingly good at it!

While we were enjoying our game we were served some delicious food by the bay hosts who take your order and deliver it to you in your hitting bay. The food on offer is of excellent quality and reasonably priced and the service on preview day was amazing. You can also order a wide variety of alcoholic and non alcoholic beverages too.

Topgolf Orlando would be a great place to visit with a group or large party. The menu has an excellent selection of appetizers, 'shareables' and flatbreads that would go down really well if ordered for a large group to nibble on while playing. They also serve snacks, sandwiches and burgers all of which looked and tasted delicious! My party had a fantastic day competing against each other at golf and enjoying the food and hospitality.

Gift shop and guest services

Topgolf now have around 40 locations across the USA and UK and look set to open many more as they grow in popularity. This, the newest Topgolf venue, is a welcome addition to the Orlando area and one that I will certainly be making a point of visiting on a regular basis. I cant wait to bring my parents here when they visit in the spring!
