We have seen a lot of blog posts recently showing various 'dupes' for the Artis Oval Blending Brushes. The Artis brushes range in price from £28 for the smallest to £60 for the large foundation style brush. We have been intrigued by the Artis brushes but have not yet been tempted to invest in them due to the large price tag! When we spotted these recently released oval brushes in Primark we were very excited and threw a couple each into our basket without a second thought. The Primark version come in three sizes (we were only able to get our hands on two) and range in price from £2.50 to £4.00 (yes, really!)
We opened the brushes live in our recent Primark Haul YouTube video (for our first impression we will leave the link below) Suffice to say we were immediately pretty surprised by the density and the softness of the brushes. Of course the proof is in the using! We were very excited to give them a try the next day when we applied our make up.
We both used the large brush to apply cream foundation and immediately it was a hit! The handle gently flexes as you use it to prevent you from pressing too hard and the soft bristles sweep the product across your skin and buff it in with very little effort. The smaller brush was then used to apply concealer, again with the same results! The design of these brushes definitely takes a little bit of getting used to but once you've cracked it the results are great. In our opinion the finish is similar to that of the Beauty Blender and as we are both Beauty Blender addicts that is a big claim indeed!
As we have not used the Artis brushes it is difficult to compare but we are pretty sure that the Artis brushes can not be £55 better than these 'dupes' from Primark!
Forget Artis! For now we will be sticking with these Primark PS...Pro Oval Blending Brushes. They get the job done to a fraction of the cost and that's good enough for us! We'll spend the £55 we are saving on something else!
